Hands, Not Face

Posted on 11 April 20187 April 2018

Whether in print or on a screen, reading is a common way to pass the time on the subway.

Here’s a confession: sometimes I photograph people’s hands because I don’t feel bold enough to photograph their faces. I might not be in the mood to deal with the possibility of being confronted. In this case I was too close to get their face with my 50mm lens without being obnoxious, so I opted for their hands. As the photographer that is my prerogative.

14 February 2018. New York City, USA.
