This mural fragment is one of two remaining murals of the 26 originals painted in the 80s by a group of artists seeking to amplify the voices of the Lower East Side community.

      Thank you! I hadn’t realized I was looking at history when I was there that day. It wasn’t until I wrote this post and looked for background information that I realized the significance of the mural.
