I am happy to report my newish MacBook Pro and I have become good friends. Losing my other one to some unknown hardware issue (probably a logic board failure) before I was financially ready to replace it was a blow, and the ensuing drama put me a full two weeks behind in my photo processing. I probably have photos older than this one in my queue waiting for me attention. I’ll go back and check at some point.
In addition to this I have some personal, non-photography business I need to get cracking on which is going to require a lot of my time and attention. I’d like to study sociology on the graduate level. That will involve preparing writing samples, applications, and GRE scores all while working full time. Part of me thinks I am crazy. The other part is raring at the bit and upset it is taking me so long to get all of my ducks in a row so I can just apply already.
Because photography is my happy place, I expect to continue making and sharing photos in the midst of all of that madness. If I go too long without doing it, my mood suffers. The two weeks I spent searching for a new computer proved that, if I needed any proof. I may not be able to do much in the way of applying for grants, paying for portfolio reviews, or entering juried competitions to build my C.V. during that time, but I’ll still be nurturing my craft. I hope to fold photography into my sociology studies as well. It’s all part of the potluck that makes me Wanda Lotus.
