This little cutie was sitting/standing/dancing across from me on the train. I am glad I had my camera ready!

When I showed this photo to friends some of them asked if I asked permission before making this photo. I did not. In the United States it is legal to photograph people (including children) in public when there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. Furthermore, asking for permission to photograph snaps the person out of their natural interaction with their environment, which is what I capture as a street photographer. That said, I have had a few people ask me not to take their photo, some not in the politest of ways. Out of respect, I oblige. There will be other people, other opportunities to celebrate the beauty of the people I encounter.
This is a subject I have written about several times in my blog. You can read my thoughts below.
