A Must-See Photography Exhibit on the Liberian Civil War

Posted on 19 November 201814 November 2018

During a recent tour at the Bronx Documentary Center (BDC), Michael Kamber, founder and director, discussed the work of fellow photojournalists Chris Hondros and Tim Hetherington. The three of them were part of the international press corps on the ground during the second Liberian civil war. Their photos, obtained while shadowing the Liberian government and LURD rebel forces, graced the covers of newspapers and magazines around the globe, shocking the international community into finally stepping in to stop the fighting. Hondros’ and Heatherington’s photos are part of the BDC’s current exhibition “War and Peace in Liberia: Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros”, which is on view at the BDC from Oct 26 – Dec 16, 2018.
