People Were Here

Posted on 9 July 202013 July 2020
3 July 2020. Far Rockaway Beach (New York), USA.

An abandoned sand pail lies at the water’s edge among seashells. I wonder if it was deliberately left or if some child was at home crying because they couldn’t find their precious pail.

This was my first trip to the beach this summer. It wasn’t crowded, and the people there did a great job of practicing social distancing. Even the friend who went with us stayed six feet away on her own towel. It was a lovely experience and much needed after being indoors most of the past four months.
