Waiting to Board at Newark Penn Station

Posted on 17 August 202017 August 2020
3 August 2020. Newark (New Jersey), USA.

How are you holding up during the pandemic? We remain healthy and thankful our routines have not changed other than the addition of mask wearing and additional disinfecting over and above what we usually do. Some of our friends have caught and recovered (or are still recovering) from the virus. That is a blessing we do not take for granted.

Here in New York City things are slowly reopening, though there are still restrictions in place to help slow the spread of the virus. My hope is that by this time next year there will be an effective, safe vaccine. Scientists and doctors continue learning more each day about how the virus works and how to treat it, which is why information changes, sometimes quickly.

I’m keeping my ears open to the trends, but I am also careful to not immerse myself in any of it. For one thing, I have enough challenges in my personal life without taking on that burden. For another, it is downright depressing. I don’t need that. Instead I stay informed enough to stay safe and focus most of my energy on continuing to find beauty and joy in each day…sometimes each moment, if taking it a day at a time feels too overwhelming.

May all of you stay safe and healthy and continue to find beauty in your everyday lives.
